FeedForward (M2.2 release) ReadMe This ReadMe document contains information about the M2.2. release of FeedForward. The M2.2 release is the last "preview" release before the v1.0 release candidate. We encourage you to play with this release, and explore the possibilities, and find bugs for us to squash for 1.0. If you think of an idea for an enhancement, feature, or a way of making use of FeedForward we'd really like you to tell us about it. Our Trac system is open for business at: http://trac.cetis.ac.uk/trac.cgi/feedforward We're also especially interested in improving usability, so please give us feedback on your experiences and ideas. You can see a lot of design documents via our blog at http://blogs.cetis.ac.uk/feedforward/ Licensing FeedForward is released under an MIT-style license. This means, in brief, that the source code is available from our repository, and that developers are free to make use of the code in any way they wish provided that the FeedForward project is credited with authorship of the code. You can read the license in full by looking in the Licenses folder. Additionally a number of third-party libraries are used in the product; these can also be located in the Licenses folder. Features - Preferences panel for setting refresh speed of feeds, and whether to load images from within feed content - Support for users behind web proxies (Enhancement #68) - About dialog (Enhancement #69) Fixes - Much improved image capture from feeds - Improved plugin structure and library management, resulting in a smaller footprint for the application - Less fussy when adding new feeds - Fixed bug with item read status being overwritten on update (Bug #71) - Fixed bug with erratic sorting (Bug #72) For full details of the features in this and future releases, see http://trac.cetis.ac.uk/trac.cgi/feedforward/roadmap Known Issues and Limitations Show/Hide labels are not contextual This is a limitation of the underlying platform; we hope it doesn't detract from the experience too much, and will keep an eye out for ways to remedy in future. Collections name editor can be annoying Clicking on the name of a Collection prompts you to edit it directly inline. Unfortunately this doesn't play nicely on all platforms, such as when dragging an item onto a collection you can end up renaming it to an obscure URI rather than adding the object. We're considering removing this feature and replacing it with a more traditional dialog box in a future release. Other Notes SW 12 JUNE 2009
